Daily life of my own choosing

I have no particular pattern to my daily life. The only thing that creates some sort of a rhythm for my time are visits to the day centre three times a week. On other days I usually spend my time doing whatever I feel like. This may have been a bigger problem recently because I quit my studies last year. During the day I game, make music, draw and see friends.

Different forms of art and gaming make me feel happy in my daily life, and so does exercise. For example, I sometimes go for walks. The thing that perhaps has the most negative effect on my daily life is not having a regular daily rhythm. This makes it difficult to start doing anything. Mental health problems also affect me, but having someone to talk to when I feel bad has helped me a lot. In daily life, my greatest concern is what to do with my life professionally in the future, now that I have dropped out of my studies. I feel I have the freedom to choose and decide on my own affairs in life.

Home

I live alone in a 32-square metre rental flat in a high-rise building. I have been living here for almost a year. My living area is quiet and I have enjoyed living here. In housing, having a peaceful environment, a short distance to services and good transport connections is important to me.

Services

I take care of my home and cook meals for myself. I don't need help from other people. The nearest grocery store is a short walk away. Outside my home, I visit the day centre, and I will start receiving the services of a mental health team soon. I have not been out and about in the city much recently. Every now and then, I've gone to the cinema, a bar or a barber’s.
I mostly walk to different places, or sometimes take public transport if the journey is longer.

Important people

My important people are my partner, my family and friends. The people at the day centre have also helped me a lot, which is why I would say they are also important to me. I see my friends roughly once a week, we go to music bingo together.

Turning points of life and their impact

Being admitted to the university was a good turning point, but the second turning point was when I dropped out. I quit my studies because I did not feel the field was right for me, and I was unable to continue studying because of my health. Finding my partner was also a significant event in my life.

Use of digital devices

I have a smartphone. I use it for browsing the Internet and keeping in touch with people. I use the social media to some extent, mostly Instagram. Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat are services I don’t use much. I watch films and series on the Internet. To make appointments I mostly use the phone.

I also have a laptop, which I use for gaming. I have no TV, smartwatch or similar.
The smartphone is a device I find useful. High-speed internet access, price/quality ratio and memory capacity are important features in your phone. The best thing technology could offer me is help with managing everyday affairs/living my daily life, and maintaining social contacts could also be made even easier. Personally I find keeping my home in order a challenge for which I would like help.

Regarding technology, I am concerned about information security and the collection of personal data in general. I would also not like to use health services remotely.

To conclude

When I have meaningful things to do and feel that I get everything important done, I at least have the elements of a good everyday life.
