Male 63 years Syrian

Oma- tai vuokra-asunto, Uusimaa

Description of everyday life

I'm a 63-year-old man from Syria, and I've been living in a 3-room rental apartment in the Uusimaa region of Finland with my wife for about a year now. My typical day involves going to language school twice a week, reading, walking to the grocery store, and taking plenty of rest. But the highlight of my day is definitely going to the community group and spending time with my friends.

To me, spending time with my wife is what really makes for a good everyday life. I value my independence and make my own decisions. Fortunately, I'm healthy and interested in computers, which bring me a lot of enjoyment. And knowing that there's safety in Finland gives me a sense of pleasure and satisfaction, even though I sometimes worry about the future.

When I'm feeling lonely or sad, I like to listen to music and focus on the good things in my life. I'm quite satisfied with my housing situation because it's calm and quiet, and I use laundry services from time to time. I also love going for walks, visiting the library, and engaging in sports and exercise. If there's one thing I'd like from service providers, it's more promotion of the internet and digital devices.

I think technology is great and useful, especially given that I'm a dentist by profession. Unfortunately, I'm not currently practicing because it's been difficult to find customers in Finland due to the language barriers. While I recognize the value of technology, I do worry that it might make people lazy and shrink the world too much for me.

My wife is the most important person in my life, and I really enjoy going to community groups and interacting with people from other cultures. Moving to Finland was a life-changing experience for me, but it hasn't been easy. Integrating into Finnish society and learning new technologies has been a challenge, and it's been tough to pursue my career as a dentist here due to the lack of opportunities.
